SML Adele’s Legacy followed their mission of Keeping Kids Cozy

In December 2024, students and staff at Dudley Elementary in Franklin County, VA, were recipients of hats knitted and crocheted by dozens of volunteers from around Smith Mountain Lake, the state and country. The items were delivered by members of SML Adele's Legacy, the Smith Mountain Lake Women’s Club, the Holy Yarn Rollers, and the SWVA Knitting Guild. The Bedford County school was Huddleston Elementary where each student chose a hat, scarf and sweater and every staff member chose a hat.

Students had so much fun picking out their new winter items.  Huddleston Elementary sent the following to us, “HES students would like to thank SML Adele’s Legacy for the hats, scarves, and sweaters! Thank you for also for providing the staff with the amazing hats. This was a special blessing for HES.”

For 2025 an elementary school in Franklin County will receive all three items and a larger school in Bedford County will receive hats. The following locations in the area will accept machine washable/acrylic yarn and completed hand created items which can be dropped off (and clearly identified for SML Adele’s Legacy):
